The Atlantic Philanthropies

The Atlantic Philanthropies logoAtlantic Philanthropies is a global, limited lifetime foundation with four funding priorities: aging, disadvantaged children and youth, population health, and reconciliation and human rights.  They expect to spend their entire endowment (approximately $8 billion dollars) by 2020.

The Interactive Aging Network is currently assisting the Atlantic Philanthropies to in developing a large scale initiative in Europe to ensure that the population is aware of and using the benefits available to them. a2b websiteIt was determined that Northern Ireland would be the most suitable country to pilot an end-to-end benefit information system (BIS) in conjunction with the Northern Ireland government and the lead aging advice service organizations there.  Atlantic Philanthropies and the Northern Ireland Government supported IANet to create a feasibility study of this project, which is currently underway.  This is a four year project is expected to be replicated throughout the UK and Europe.
