NY State Office for the Aging, Albany, NY

NY State office for Aging logoThe New York State Office for the Aging (SOFA) is the state unit on aging responsible for managing the Administration on Aging funds throughout the state of New York.

IANet provided training on the newly developed Provider Data System (PDS).  PDS was originally developed at the NYC Department for the Aging and was being adopted by SOFA for service tracking and reporting throughout the state. This was among the nation’s first tools created to definitively document the “unduplicated count” of services delivered from an agency.   While PDS was a powerful statistical tool, it was difficult for end-users to navigate easily. This cemented for IANet the importance of actively including end-users in the development process.   After an estimated $18 million investment, PDS continues to be used throughout NY State and New York City.
